Enclosures & Test Fixtures

Test FixtureRepeatable test results are a challenge when testing high-frequency wireless products. Devices under test are often subject to interference from random signals in the air or from each other, making it hard to control signal integrity at the device. OctoScope engineers are experienced at designing or adapting enclosures that provide a high degree of isolation through shielding, gasketing and feed-through filtering of control and power signals. We can develop:

  • Custom isolated enclosures that conduct power and control signaling to the device under test while providing RF isolation
  • Complete test setups, including shielded enclosures, programmable attenuators, channel emulation, test and network emulation equipment
  • Fixturing to control signal level and integrity at the device under test using programmable attenuators or channel emulation circuitry built right into the enclosures
  • Fixturing to emulate a variety of roaming and handoff scenarios
  • Power supply and sophisticated current measurement circuitry to qualify battery life of handheld devices under different use-case scenarios, including the use of multiple radio interfaces and running a variety of applications
  • Production test fixturing designed for shortest insertion and test time
  • Test automation software

Creating a controlled test environment is particularly important when qualifying new generation smart phones or Netbooks with multiple radio interfaces. Test scenarios could include Bluetooth® interfering with Wi-Fi, or multiple radio interfaces operating together at a variety of signal levels and running a variety of software applications.
