Product Testing Services

Through our experience developing test equipment, participating in the industry standards process and hands on testing, we combine a thorough understanding of performance requirements with hands on testing experience. The octoScope team has been involved in all phases of product test:

  • Hardware design verification test, including voltage ranging and environmental testing
  • Quality Assurance testing, including test automation development
  • Regulatory compliance testing
  • Functional testing, including hardware and software testing
  • Test fixturing for QA and production
  • Production testing including device under test calibration
  • Test automation, including data collection and control
  • Field testing to verify RF signal integrity and performance in the field
  • Performance testing, such as throughput vs. range or roaming

The types of testing we do can be summarized as follows:

Development and QA Production Deployment
Throughput vs. range and other PHY conditions PHY waveforms looped from TX to RX MAC/PHY performance testing, e.g., throughput vs. range
Throughput, delay and jitter  through application layers and through IMS and IP Power  consumption test to find circuit faults Application performance testing, including voice, video and data applications
Roaming in a variety of motion and base station availability scenarios TX and RX calibration Throughput, delay and jitter vs. speed of motion, roaming and other PHY conditions
Power consumption in various use case scenarios (e.g. circuit void, VoIP, video streaming, web access, standby, etc.) Test fixturing Capacity measurements
Protocol decoding (monitoring) Test automation Roaming behavior testing
Infrastructure capacity testing using client emulation Test speed optimization

We are especially interested in handset testing because new generation handsets, running networking applications such as video and web access, will face new challenges of performance vs. battery life testing.  Battery life adds a new dimension to testing and we have been studying the requirements for this type of test functionality for handsets supporting multiple radio interfaces, including 2G (CDMA, GSM), 3G (WCDMA) and 4G (LTE or WiMax).
